Create the Colors of Spring – the artwork
that has stood with Cheonggyecheon for 20 years!

Installed in 2006 to commemorate the restoration of Cheonggyecheon, Spring by Pop Art master Claes Oldenburg and his wife Coosje van Bruggen has, for two decades, been a symbol of Seoul and a beacon of the stream’s new era. For its 20th anniversary, it lights up in colors chosen by you, creating a joyful moment where people, city, nature, and art come together as one.

청계천 복원 20주년을 맞아, 새로운 공공미술 작품들이 청계천에 펼쳐집니다.국제공모와 국내 지명공모, 그리고 신진작가들의 열린 공모를 통해 선정된 여섯 점의 현대미술 작품은 청계천의 역사와 복원 이야기를 새롭게 풀어내며, 시민들과 가까이 호흡하는 공공미술의 새로운 모습을 보여줍니다. 도시와 자연, 과거와 현재, 시민과 예술이 함께 어울려 만들어가는 공존의 장을 실험하는 《청계공존: 서로를 잇는 예술의 물결》에서 청계천을 새롭게 바라보고 느껴보세요.

Inter-Flow Cheonggye

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cheonggyecheon’s restoration, new public artworks have been installed along the stream. Six art pieces—selected through an international competition, a domestic nomination process, and an open call for emerging artists—reimagine Cheonggyecheon’s history and restoration, offering fresh perspectives on public art that engages closely with citizens. Inter-Flow Cheonggye creates a space where city and nature, past and present, citizens and art come together in harmony.
